The Rumour Mill – Luke James
The 17 year old has been a revelation for the League 1 side since breaking into the first team in December 2011, 43 days after his 16th birthday. He has made 19 appearances for Pools, bagging 3 goals in the process.
It has been made apparent that the midfielder is unsure about making the move away from Victoria Park, as he is currently content with first team football and doesn’t want to be playing for the reserves at St James’ Park.
However, it is not out of the question that the club could loan him back to Hartlepool or another Football League club once a deal has been confirmed. This would hopefully convince James to put pen to paper.
Developing young prospects bears greater significance with the UEFA financial fair play looming large over the horizon. Therefore, instead of splashing the cash for players, we must try and pluck out the best young starlets that England and the continent have to offer.
I’m confident that Luke James has what it takes to develop into a first team regular. Having first team experience at such a tender age is a vital attribute to have, and with the unrivalled abilities of our scouts, it’s possible that Luke James will become a household name.
