Inter Pushing for Santon Return

Inter Milan are reportedly interested in bringing left-back Davide Santon back to the San Siro.

The defender joined Newcastle from the Italian side in the 2011 summer transfer window. However he failed to hold down a consistent place in the starting XI last season. This campaign has started differently for Santon though as he seems to have made the left-back spot his own.

Santon joined the Magpies from Inter Milan in the summer of 2011 but it took time for him to become established as a regular in the side.

Pardew believes there is still work for the 21-year-old to do to improve his game, but has noticed a huge improvement during the early part of this campaign.

The full-back’s attacking play has caught the eye and Pardew feels he is benefiting from a happier life away from the pitch after adapting to the local culture.

Inter think that he could be the man to replace Maicon who left during the summer to join Premier League champions Manchester City. Yet it would seem that Newcastle would be reluctant to let the 21-year-old go. Only last week Pardew was praising Santon in an interview. He told The Journal:

“I think he was a boy then [when he played for Inter] and he was a boy last year too. He is a man now and is starting to play like a man.

His raids down the left-hand side are becoming better – he is as potent as Jonas from the left-back position.”

I am sure that Alan Pardew will be doing everything in his power to keep a hold of one of the most exciting prospects at the club. But we do realise the difficulty of that if this reported interest is true. If he were to be offered the vacant role at the San Siro, it’s unlikely he’d turn it down. Having said that, Yohan Cabaye has this week revealed his rejection of Tottenham over the Summer.

Would you rather cash in on Santon or keep him on at the club?

He mustn’t rate Santon if he’s saying he’s as potent as Jonas.

Santon moved to Newcastle to get away from Inter! Naive…

Add to that his new Geordie girlfriend, obviously awesome Geordie mates and an unhealthy addiction to Greggs’ Steakbakes and you have to ask yourself – who the f*ck are you?!

What do you think?
