Newcastle United Reserves Beaten Again
The game as the score line suggests was a tight affair with Magpies probably having the better of first half even if the score line read 0-0 at the break. It was the team’s inability to defend from the corners that cost them dearly when Manchester united scored on 47 and 66 minutes from Tom Thorpe and Tom Lawrence respectively. Sandwiched in the middle was a goal from Connor Newton on 60 minutes which had restored parity for mere 6 minutes.
Given how much stress has been put on youth and academy at Newcastle, these last 2 results have been very disappointing keeping the overall picture in mind. There were however many positives to be taken out of the game with Mehdi Abeid, Romain Amalfitano and Xisco all having decent games. That would surely have left a good impression on watching John Carver, Steve Stone and Andy Woodman. Hopefully Mike Ashley will realize that it will take time to get to the optimum and will not wield the axe as he did last season.
Let’s hope the reserves can get their act together and get on the winning trail which saw them beat both Spurs and stoke city and score a load of Goals. The next match is next Monday against the Mackems.
P.S – Young magpie Adam Campbell was seen on crutches hobbling.
