Newcastle Lining up First Pre-Season Fixture

As things stand, there has been no confirmation from Newcastle regarding their pre-season plans. Though there have been rumours of the club taking part in a three-team tournament in Cape Town, along with Premiership rivals Everton, it hasn't been 'officially' announced yet.

Now the news is that Newcastle are in talks with Blackpool, regarding a pre-season friendly at Bloomfield road.

This is what Blackpool Chairman Karl Oyston told the local media about the visit.

“We will have a friendly against Newcastle which we are working towards but there is no desperate panic – everything is on schedule.”

The fact that Blackpool’s season starts on the weekend of Saturday the 3rd of August, a date somewhere in July would probably make sense.

Given that both the teams are sponsored by the same brand, the news of a friendly comes as no surprise. There have, however, been murmurs of the friendly being linked with a possible transfer swoop by Newcastle for England U21 wide-man, Tom Ince. However, this is highly unlikely.
