Newcastle Linked with Inter Milan Midfielder

Joe Obi - Inter Milan

The Summer transfer window is now in full motion with names being linked with Newcastle left right and center.

The latest name added to the seemingly endless list is the Inter Milan Midfielder Joel Chukwuma Obi.

Joel Obi does not fit into the plans of new Inter Milan Manager, Walter Mazzarri, and has already been deemed him surplus to requirements at the San Siro.

It is claimed that Mazzarri wants a solid squad of 22 players at Inter, and Joel Obi is not one of them. And it is claimed he could be sold at a bargain price to a Premier League club with Newcastle and Sunderland the most likely.

We know that Mike Ashley likes a good deal and if Joel Obi is available at a reasonable price then this move could very well be a likelihood.

One issue with Obi is that since he signed for Inter in 2010 he has been injury prone and only represented 56 times in all competitions scoring two goals. And with the injury problems that Newcastle had last season, in which 1745 days were lost to unfit players, signing another injury prone player would perhaps be a foolish move.

Another element in the equation is the fact that the Magpies are already pretty well stocked up in the midfield and his arrival could mean one of the stars or squad players leaving.
