Magpies Lining Up Friendly with French Giants

Newcastle United have held discussions with French club LOSC Lille over a friendly this summer.

Al though there are no dates finalized for the game, it is thought that game will take place between 30th July and 10th August.

There is a ten day gap between Magpies visiting Saint Mirren and hosting SC Braga at St. James’ Park. The match however is unlikely to be played on the first weekend of August when Lille are playing Pacos de Ferreira, a side that Newcastle will also play on 23rd of July.

The game would see both Yohan Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy make an emotional return to their former club.

Lille’s homeground, Stade Pierre-Mauroy, which opened just last summer, has a capacity of over 50,000.

By Newcastle’s standard the club have announced a very underwhelming preseason schedule and a friendly with Lille – should it come to fruition – would add significant spark to the schedule and would provide a stern test for magpies for a tough campaign ahead.
