French Winger Made Available – Sign him up!

The Daily Mail  are today reporting that Lille's sought-after winger, Florian Thauvin, could be made available for £8m.

Newcastle’s interest for the winger can be traced back to the beginning of January while he was still playing for Les Bleus, SC Bastia.

However, the player ultimately joined Lille for £3m only to be loaned back to Bastia for the rest of the season.

However, Thauvin’s stock continued to rise during the remainder of the season, scoring 7 goals in 12 games during the latter half of last term leading to Marseille to try and sign the player this summer.

Thauvin has represented France at various youth levels , including a regular starting place for France at this year’s U20 World Cup, and given the right coaching could make the grade at St. James’s park.

He has has plenty of pace and can create a lot for the central striker from wide areas. In spite of all the attributes the player is still raw and what the club has planned for him is still unclear. However, with the club still reportedly after a winger, along with a second striker, Thauvin would certainly fit the mould of a club lacking an out-and-out wide player.

Gutierrez has time and again let us down with his imprecision in delivery, something paramount to a team’s success, but Thauvin has showed it’s one of his best traits.

I’m adamant that if we were to pay £8m for Thauvin, we would certainly be getting more for our money than Tom Ince, Blackpool’s attacking threat, who has been linked with Newcastle and who is going for the same price.
