Newcastle confirm their final pre-season friendly

Newcastle will play Basque giants Real Sociedad in their final Pre-season friendly of the summer on Sunday 10th August at St. James’ Park.


In confirming the news the Magpies have completed their schedule of all the pre-season games. La Real are the founding members of La Liga and their longest spell in Spain’s top division lasted from 1967- 2007.

Newcastle had previously confirmed seven other friendlies to be played in England, Germany and New Zealand. The club will play against Oldham Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town in England. On their foreign travels, they will be participating in two pre-season tournaments, one in Germany and the other in New Zealand.

The match against Sociedad is the only match the club will be playing at their home ground.

Here is the list of all the pre-season games the North-East club will be playing:

Tuesday, 15th July, 2014 Oldham Athletic 7.30pm Boundary Park, Oldham
Tuesday, 22nd July, 2014 Sydney FC 7.30pm Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin, New Zealand
Saturday, 26th July, 2014 Wellington Phoenix 4.30pm Westpac Stadium, Wellington, New Zealand
Wednesday, 30th July, 2014 Sheffield Wednesday 7.45pm Hillsborough, Sheffield
Saturday-Sunday, 2nd-3rd August, 2014 (two fixtures) Schalke 04/Malaga CF/West Ham United TBC VELTINS-Arena, Gelsenkirchen, Germany
Tuesday, 5th August, 2014 Huddersfield Town 7.45pm John Smith’s Stadium, Huddersfield
Sunday, 10th August, 2014 Real Sociedad 1.30pm St. James’ Park, Newcastle
