According to reports in France, Newcastle United have scouted Stade Rennais’ young central defender Sega Coulibaly.

The 18 year old has also represented France at under – 16, 17 and 18 levels.

The Magpies had the Mali born player watched in their 4-0 win over Vitrieenne a couple of weeks ago. Newcastle’s Head of academy recruitment Steve Nickson also watched the defender in their 3-0 victory over PSG’s under – 19s in the Coupe Gambardella in March.

The player himself wants to move to England and a move to St. James’ Park would especially appeal to him where he can link up with his friend Olivier Kemen.

Despite the scouting there has been no contact between the two clubs.

Apart from Newcastle United, Liverpool, Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion have also had the Central defender watched in last few weeks.

I am sick to death of reading about all the players Newcastle are supposed to be “interested” in or “scouted”. When are people going to accept this idiot of an owner and puppet of a manager are simply interested in getting people to buy season tickets!
