Reports – Newcastle Agree Lacazette Deal
According to The Independent, a fee in the region of £15 million that may or may not include Lyon academy product Hatem Ben Arfa has been agreed.
However, as it stands, the player’s personal terms are yet to be agreed.
The 23-year-old Lacazette scored 22 goals in 54 appearances for Lyon last season, and he was unfortunate not to be named in the 23-man France World Cup squad.
The only apparent stumbling block that still remains is the player’s supposed reluctance to join a team that isn’t playing European football. Rumours have been circulating all Summer regarding this move, and many outlets had assumed that the deal was off. But this news will certainly excite the Geordie faithful who haven’t seen such a successful Summer window for years.
If NUFC are able to capture the signature of the young striker, he will be the marquee signing of a Summer that has included the purchases of Siem De Jong and Remy Cabella. There have so far been 7 new faces confirmed by the club, with two more expected to be confirmed over the next few days.
A fee of around £7m has already been agreed with Nottingham Forest for the signings of young starlets Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow. Both players supposedly carried out their medicals on Monday, and are only waiting on official confirmation from the club now.
Comments Welcome
I will believe it when he is holding up the shirt, if true, then this has being the most successful recruitment drive by Newcastle in a long long time.
