Magpies in for German International Defender
Sky Sports understands that a number of Premier League clubs are eyeing a move for the 25 year old who only joined Bayer a couple of years ago. The German club have also confirmed that they are willing to listen to offers for the former Nurnberg man.
The one time capped German International has made over 100 Bundesliga appearances since making his debut in a 3-1 defeat against Kaiserslautern in November 2010.
This is what the 6ft 4in central defender had to stay about his potential transfer,
“I believe the club have discussed a permanent transfer but also a loan option for me at present” “Outside of Germany, the main interest seems to be coming from the English Premier League, but I don’t know yet. We will have to wait and see.”
Sunderland and Hull have also been linked with the transfer whereas the biggest interest in terms of the competitors seems to be coming from Southampton.
The Magpies have been in the market for a center back and have been linked with a few over the past month or so as they look to mount a challenge in the League. Incidentally the club have also left the number 5 vacant for any central defender to arrive through the doors at St. James’ park.
Should the club sign another central defender that could spell the end for the local player Steven Taylor who is entering the last year of his contract and the club would not like for him to leave on a free.
