Newcastle Chasing Sporting Gijon Centre-Back

Newcastle United are trying to conclude a deal for young Spanish Center back Jorge Mere from Sporting Gijon in January.

Magpies are already believed to have agreed a deal for his compatriot David Concha from Racing Santander. Should the deal go through the player will be immediately loaned back to Gijon in his homeland.

17 year old Mere has been playing for his club’s youth sides and has played 40 games for his sides in the last two years.

The Oviedo born defender is also a Spanish U-19 international having made his debut last November in a 2-0 victory against Germany U-19 team.

It looks as if the club are looking their attentions to signing youngsters from countries like Spain and Germany having previously scoured France for players like Oliver Kemen.
