Reports: Tottenham have bid £15m for Newcastle Star

Tottenham Bound?

The Daily Mail are reporting that Tottenham have launched a last-gasp bid to sign Newcastle's Spanish starlet, Ayoze Perez worth £15million.

Toon fans have been eagerly watching the ITK twittersphere over the past 24 hours, desperately hoping that the club, for once, pluck up the courage and actually make a move for a player on deadline day.

Pierre Michel Lasogga and Charlie Austin have both been mentioned as potential incomings before the 6pm deadline tomorrow evening. However, while the latter is supposedly on the brink of a move to Bournemouth, the former, whose goalscoring record in Germany over the past two years has been temperamental to say the least, is apparently not on the radar.

And to further add a dampener to a day of inevitable disappointment and anticlimax, the Mail are now reporting that Newcastle could be set to lose one of their star players, Ayoze Perez.

In what was, for the most part, a terrible campaign last season, the 22 year-old Spaniard was a shining light, scoring 7 goals in 25 starts, including this worldie against West Brom (which was eventually voted goal of the season by fans).

Whether this is true or not, the speculation is likely to stir the nerves of Newcastle fans, heading into the final day of business. The club have defied odds this Summer and are currently the second biggest net spenders in the league.

Please, Mike, don’t let us down at the last hurdle.
