Could this be Newcastle’s First January Signing?

Newcastle are reportedly in the hunt for Sochaux central defender,  Jerome Onguene, according to the Mail.

The youngster only turned 18 on Tuesday but he has already featured 18 times this season for FCSM, who currently sit in Ligue 2. He has also been a part of the French National youth sides, appearing 29 times from U16 through U19.

He is very strong and physical in his play and would be well suited to the Premier League and at 6’3″ – he is probably still growing – he’s certainly a big lad already.

As you would expect, Arsenal are also reportedly lurking in the wings, but with Newcastle’s recent successes in giving younger players a chance (Perez, Haidara, Mbemba, Aarons and, more recnetly, Jamie Sterry), young Jerome could be tempted by a move to Tyneside.
