Andy Carroll Issues ‘Come and get Me’ Plea to Newcastle on Instagram?

After scoring a fantastic header in West Ham’s unexpected 2-0 victory over Liverpool, former Newcastle United man Andy Caroll posted this photo on Instagram.

Is Carroll ready to return home?

While watching BBC’s Match of the Day, Andy Carroll posted this photo of him watching his post match interview while holding a Newcastle United design mug.

The striker has recently been linked with a return to the North-East and many have suggested that this is the clearest sign of a “come and get me” plea to date.

Either way, it’s certainly not the first time that the #NUFC Twittersphere has reacted with excitement at what seems to be a come and get me plea from a supposed transfer target. Oh, and of course we can’t forget Bafetimbi Gomis’s ominous English lessons

The Magpies are expected to be back in the market for a striker when the window opens up today, and considering Carroll’s history at the club, and his clear affinity with the fans, he may well be at the top of Steve McClaren’s wish list in the New Year.

West Ham owner, David Sullivan, recently conceded in an interview with Sky Sports that Newcastle United are the only club Andy Carroll would be interested in quitting West Ham for.

Either way, even if this is just wild speculation from our side, its probably the only time we’ll see Newcastle’s name on a cup this season. So enjoy it while you can!

Would you welcome Andy Carroll back to the club? Or do you feel we should be looking elsewhere this January? Let us know in the comment section below.

  1. If the lad was not so injury prone. And the £17 mill price tag was halved…. Then maybe.
I would sooner pay around 7 mill for Austin and I think you would get the same value out of this player as paying 17 mill for big Andy. One thing is for sure we need someone who can finish off the chances we are creating because we are running out of games in our fight for survival

  2. As you suggest, it’s all a bit tenuous. There’s no doubting his love for the club, and I’m sure most of us would welcome him back with open arms. But whether he’d leave West Ham right now, I’m not convinced.

  3. You Geordies crack me up. Carroll has got 6 or 7 years before he would want to drop to the Championship.

Although his love for the club is clear what we need is a world class striker and big ol andy is certanly not that i speak to loads of west ham fans and the majority of them would probably drive carroll up here just to make sure his gone no where near worth 10mil let alone 17 mil

  5. he is a real player everyone would love to see him back he would be awesome.

  6. Yes for less than 10

  7. As a West Ham season ticket holder i can confirm to Ex Inside Man that Andy Carroll has always been well received at the Hammers and even thou his injuries have been really frustrating never once has it not got a good reception.
