Newcastle United take Exciting Swiss Prospect on Trial
Newcastle United have taken Switzerland U21 striker, Albian Ajeti, on trial with a view to a permanent deal.
Lee Ryder, the Chronicle’s Chief Sport Writer, first reported the deal on Twitter this morning, in a move that has quite literally come out of nowhere.

The 18 year-old, though of Albanian descent, has played for all of the Switzerland youth teams from U15s right up to the U21s, a team for whom he has played three times.
The youngster recently made the headlines for all the wrong reasons, committing a serious gaffe on his social media, revealing the transfer of Mohamed El Neny to Arsenal before it had even been confirmed.

Arsene would not have been happy
I am not going to pretend I know a huge amount about the lad. But, according to a quick Google search, he certainly isn’t an unknown quantity in his hometown of Basel. His Football Manager stats aren’t too bad either (if you’re into that) – Sky Sports News will undoubtedly be on the case soon enough.
Having broken through into the Basel first term last year, he has played 11 times for the Swiss giants, scoring 3 goals in the process. His record in the youth teams is very impressive, however, having notched 18 goals in 40 games – a rate of just under a goal every 2 games.
It may not be the business that Newcastle fans had been anticipating in the build up to the January window, with serious first-team reinforcement need both in our attacking and defensive arsenal.
Nonetheless, it is good to see we are still looking for bright young talent. Hopefully the lad can impress during his short-term trial at the club.
If you missed it this morning, Newcastle have also been linked with a bright, young prospect in France. Click HERE to read more about him/

Great to see us finally complete some business (almost!). Now time to focus on what is important – our first team. Remy, please.
