Newcastle have been pursuing the England international for the entirety of the January transfer window. And after two failed bids (one of £10.4m, and one a loan bid), it did look as though the transfer would go right down to the wire.
However, after lengthy negotiations, it looks as though the move is finally in motion.
Townsend yesterday tweeted what appeared to be a farewell to fellow teammates. And the Twittersphere quite naturally kicked off. However, the speculation now appears to have been vindicated by this Breaking news as per Sky

Whether Newcastle will see this as an opportunity to offload misfiring Summer signing, Florian Thauvin, remains to be seen. But we will certainly be keeping a close eye on this one.
What do you think? Are you looking forward to seeing Townsend in a Toon top? Or should we be giving Thauvin more time to prove himself?
