Reports: Newcastle Join Race to Sign Ecuadorian Hotshot

Is there any substance in the Bolanos rumours?

With the transfer deadline day just three days away, Newcastle are being linked with players left, right and centre.

Yesterday, by all accounts, was by far one of the most ridiculous days I have seen with regards to Newcastle rumours – no less than six new names were mentioned in the national press – you can view the all of the rumours HERE.

However, to no surprise, we have now been linked with another player: Ecuadorian striker, Miller Bolanos

The Sun claim the 25-year-old is valued at £7.5m by Ecuadorian champions Emelec, and Newcastle and Everton are hot on his trail. The striker was in sensational form last term and bagged 36 goals in his homeland.

Newcastle are still in the hunt for West Brom rebel Saido Berahino. But Steve McClaren is monitoring other options in case a deal cannot be struck. Other names to be mentioned are Jordan Rhodes (who now looks set to sign for Borough), and Seydou Doumbia.

I won’t pretend to know a huge amount about this lad. But he certainly has garnered high praise from many corners of the footballing world. Whether Newcastle will make a bid for this lad remains to be seen but, heading into the final few days of the winter window, I would not be surprised if Newcastle were to pull an unexpected deal out of the bag.
